Why We Need Resilient Health Now More Than Ever
- Have you been feeling stressed?
- Not eating well?
- Not sleeping well?
- Worrying that you might get sick?
You are not alone. Many are having the same feelings, and I want to empower you to take charge of your physical and mental wellbeing. I want to help you take control of the things that you can, so that you can optimize your wellbeing and have resilient health.
What is Resilient Health?
To be resilient means “to be able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.” Now more than ever, we are faced with challenges to our health. To be resilient, we must fortify ourselves to withstand these challenges or support the factors that help in recovery from illness or injury. Many of the challenges we are facing right now are not going away any time soon. So now is the time to focus on the things that will maximize our ability to withstand and recover quickly from these challenges. And I’m here to help.
What I’ve learned over the years is that health is not the absence of disease, health is not just about popping pills for our ills, and health is not merely paying attention to our physical body while ignoring our mental and emotional state. Our health is the result of our body and mind interacting with our environment. Sure, it starts with our genetics and the cards we are dealt. But what the scientific community has learned is that those cards (our genes) are not static, meaning that expression of many genes that contribute to states of health or disease can be turned on or turned off. And what turns those genes on and off? Our environment. In the form of food, nutrients, stress, activity, chemicals, hormones, radiation, relationships, etc. – it is these signals from our environment that instruct which genetic blueprints are put into action and which ones are not.
A Symphony of Signals From Our Environment
It is these signals which can turn cancer genes or heart disease or other disease or health genes on or off. It’s what makes our bodies able to function in a dynamically changing world – we respond to changes in temperature, to infections, to shifts in lightness and darkness, to physical threats, to perceived/mental threats, and even to love and compassion. It’s pretty freaking amazing actually!
But having good health is not just hitting a single switch. It’s not like just eating broccoli is going to be the magic bullet to make you healthy. Helpful, yes. And yes, broccoli does turn on and off many signals that can be important to health. But it is a symphony of signals that creates health or illness. So, we must look at the broader picture – our whole environment. And in “Resilient Health: How to Thrive in Our Toxic World,” I take you through a detailed tour of your whole environment starting from the inside and then moving progressively outwards, showing you how to clean these signals up so that health is optimized and illness is minimized.
5-layer Clean-up
While many programs focus on food, I view food as the core and also shine a light on other layers where we may unknowingly be exposed to things that can negatively affect our health and wellbeing. This includes the things that we put on our bodies and that surround us in our homes; our mind, emotions, and relationships; and other aspects in our greater community and society that can also affect us. As recent times have shown us, we are deeply interconnected and therefore can be affected on all of these levels.
Through a process of awareness, assessment, and action, “Resilient Health” takes you through 52 points where you can shift your signals from promoting illness to promoting wellness. Starting next week, I’ll be sharing insights each week here on this blog as well as on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube. Grab your copy now and join me on the journey to “Resilient Health.”
Sending you much love!
